What have Doug and Andrea been reading lately?
Andrea read Secrets of Happiness by Joan Silber
Here's what she had to say:
Joan Silber is a master at the art of the interwoven story. In Secrets of Happiness we follow characters whose lives intersect and amble together. Two families are related by their father's indiscretion...two relationships with children while still married to his first wife. There are the mothers, the four children, the lovers, and a teenager spinning around this novel, all looking for love and joy in their lives. Each chapter can stand alone as its own story. A good, compelling read.
Doug read Piranesi Susanna Clarke
Here's what he had to say:
Confession Time. I skipped my daily prep hour for Poetry Workshop Friday. My excuse: I was kidnapped. Taken to another world. I had to keep reading all day to finish the book in order to return. What a book. It's been a long time since I've read one like this.
