What have Scott and Doug been reading lately? Non-fiction edition.
Scott read The Kingdom of Characters: The Language Evolution that Made China Modern by Jing Tsu
Here's what Scott had to say:
Meet the colorful cast of characters -- engineers, monks, novelists, imprisoned geniuses--who reinvented the Chinese language for modern life and global trade.
by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Here's what Doug had to say:
This writing is exhilarating. The flow. The ideas. The humor. The occasional "did he just say that?" reaction. Right now this is the lift I needed. You thought Tyson would just deliver more Astrophysics? Here he brings great historical and anthropological observations and other surprises. It's definitely a Greatest Hits Nonfiction Selection. The Hayden Planetarium was always a favorite destination of mine on school field trips. Now I understand why.
